Esther = Shy???
Yes, sometimes.
I admit sometimes I will put on a strong front,
Looking very calm and composed,
But INSIDE I am rattling and shaken like anything.
Depending on who I am speaking to.
I remembered tt time when I went for my interview,
I was so nervous...
But I managed to pull through somehow... =)
I remembered when I had my Mathematics presentation in class,
I was nervous...
And I spoke very fast.
My tutor pointed out that a few of us had this problem,
That when we were nervous,
We tend to speak very fast...
Oh well...
Something to change...
And I remembered the first time when I had to stand in front of the classroom,
Normal Technical Class.
Facing a class of about 40 students...
Mischieviously grinning at me...
I was pretty shaken up and rattling inside.
This only prove one point:
I need to build up confidence in public speaking...
That I will be able to speak up clearly and confidently
in a class of 40 sec school students.
After the first few times of handling that class,
I have gotten quite used to them...
But I feel that I can be better in managing myself to speak in front of a class.
It ... Can be Better.
Cos at times I will still be pretty nervous.
I need to be strong, be courageous, be confident.
Only time and experience can tell....
But... I love my job,
So far for now...
It's a long way to go...
And to early to tell...
But a good start...
To say that I love my job now. =)
I think some students are pretty amusing...
When you hear their remarks,
You don't know whether to laugh or cry...
Their remarks can be very witty...
Cos they are trying to be funny.
Then you have to come out with something wittier to outwit them, sometimes.
One thing I have observed and learnt is that
There is no 'hard-and-fast' rule in handling students.
Each of them have their own personality.
You have to use your own understanding of their personalities,
And your own discretion,
And be on your feet at all times,
To handle them.
In a classroom,
you can make about 50 different decisions a day.
From whether to use the OHP or powerpoint to answering students impromptu unimaginable questions.
It is a challenging, yet a fulfilling path to walk.
