My Kelong Trip

The overall trip was quite ok, though I expected more...
In terms of food.
Cos I paid one hundred Sing dollars for two days one night (first and second Jan)
And it was rather expensive,
Considering that the food they served there was basically
what I can eat in Singapore hawker centre,
Chicken, fish, duck, vegetables etc...
The best we had was only ONE dish --> prawns.
I was expecting maybe something like sting-ray, squids and perhaps steamboat.
And we played Uno card games and majong and other card games.
Watched TV
And the only special highlight of Kelong was: FISHING.
Other than that,
I feel that it is very expensive considering the everyday common food we are getting,
And that card games and mahjong and TV programmes,
Are all available in Singapore.
The only main highlight I see was fishing and staying in the kelong experience.
But this doesn't account to One Hundred Sing dollars right...
It is indeed very expensive...


I went with Jolin, Lixin, Soon Yang, Wei Lian, Chee Meng, Ken and Wang Xing.
Apparently I got to know much later that Chee Meng and Ken are in Wang Xing's cell group.
And I realised one thing...
That a two days-one night thing,
Though it is short,
It made me realise one thing:
That it has been ages since I enjoy making friends.
I have lost the joy and initiative of knowing new people.
Cos I always have this reserve side of myself when it comes to strangers,
And to people I don't really know,
And to guys as well,
Cos I feel that after all,
they are not girls,
And I don't feel comfortable talking to them for some time,
Until I know them better.
I am those sort who is very comfortable with my own group of girl friends,
And don't feel the need to know other people.
Cos I find that people are very complicated human beings,
You never know what they are thinking,
You never know what lies beneath their hearts.


But I must say during these two days of stay in Kelong,
Has made me changed my perception...
When I got there,
The only people I do not know was Chee Meng and Ken,
And initially,
I was like...
Oh well...
I'll probabaly just stick with Jolin and Lixin...
My girl friends...


But gradually,
When I find that Jolin and Lixin weren't there,
I need to talk to other people.
I started talking to people whom I know slightly better,
Soon Yang was the first...
Then next somehow during fishing,
I talked to Wang Xing and Wei Lian,
And then Ken and Chee Meng.
Guys are not that hard to talk to after all.
Some of them can be very chatty and humorous.
It is just that when you don't really know them,
they take a longer time to open up,
Just like myself who takes a long time to open up talking to people whom I don't really know.
As I spend this time of gathering with my sisters and brothers,
I realised it has been a long time since I enjoy mixing around with people whom I don't really know.
We had so much fun together,
Fishing, laughing, gaming, talking...
And it struck me that each of them has a unique personality,
If only you take the time and patience and trust to know a person better,
You can actually find the beauty that lies beneath the surface.


I thank God for this trip,
For giving me the joy to open up to talk to people whom I don't really know.
For giving me the joy in knowing new friends, the joy which I have long forgotten cos I am so so comfortable in my own circle of friends.
For granting us a safe trip to and fro.
For this time of fellowship and gathering together.
